Ken Korver
President
Ken has served as President of the Compton Initiative board since it was founded in 2006. He began attending Emmanuel Church in Paramount, CA with his family in 1971.

Vice President
Rafer is a veteran LA County Deputy Sheriff in the City of Compton who joined the department in 1986 and also has served as the head pastor of Faith Inspirational Missionary Baptist Church in Compton since 1995.

Vice President
Ed holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of La Verne, a master’s degree in behavioral science from CSU Dominguez Hills and a Master of Divinity from Talbot Seminary.

Ruth Zymkowitz
Business Manager
Ruth holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from CSU Long Beach, and previously worked in human resources, sales and real estate joint ventures. She has been the business manager at Emmanuel Church since 1992 and also serves in that capacity for the Paramount Care Foundation.

Mike was an educator and coach for 20 years whose roles included high school teacher and K-12 principal. He coached high school football, baseball and surfing and coached college baseball at CSUDH and Biola universities.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from UCLA, was a financial advisor for 15 years and now uses his business knowledge to write digital content for a Los Angeles-based investment company. He also serves on the boards of directors for Emmanuel Church and the Camp Angelus Tract Land Association.
